Washing powder is an alkaline synthetic detergent that is a chemical substance extracted from petroleum. Anionic surfactants, sodium alkylbenzene sulfonate, and a small amount of non-ionic surfactants are the main ingredients of washing powder. In the production process, some additives are added, such as phosphate, silicate, sodium sulfate, fluorescent agent, enzyme, etc., and it is made by mixing, dusting and other processes. In fact, these chemical raw materials are like a "double-edged sword", and direct contact may also have adverse effects, such as causing rough skin, itching, and causing allergies in some people with allergies. Ingredients of Washing Powder
There are five categories of detergent ingredients: active ingredients, builder ingredients, buffer ingredients, synergistic ingredients, dispersant LBD-1, auxiliary ingredients.
Specifically, the ingredients of general washing powder include fabric fiber antifouling agents, anionic surfactants, nonionic surfactants, water softeners, soil suspending agents, enzymes, fluorescent agents and perfumes. However, low quality washing powder often contain harmful ingredients such as phosphorus, aluminum, and alkali. Among them, the surface active agent in the washing powder has the functions of dissolving, emulsifying, soaking, cleaning, sterilizing, softening, foaming, and preventing static electricity of the washing powder. Especially synthetic surfactants, not only have side effects such as roughening of hands, but also the major public hazard that pollute the environment. In addition, phosphorus has been banned from being used in detergents in most countries around the world.
1. Active Ingredients
The active ingredient is the main ingredient in the washing powder, and it is a class of substances called surfactants. Surfactants can weaken the adhesion between stains and clothes. Its principle of action is to remove stains from clothes under the action of washing water flow and mechanical force such as hand rubbing or washing machine agitation, so as to achieve the purpose of washing clothes.

2. Builder Ingredients
The builder ingredient is the most used ingredient in washing powder and generally accounts for 15%-40%. The main function of the builder ingredient is to soften the water by binding the hardness ions contained in the water, so as to maximize the effectiveness of the surfactant. In other words, the builder ingredient improves the quality of the water, thereby making the washing powder work in a more effective and efficient manner.
In our daily life, the common so-called phosphorus-containing (phosphate) washing powder is the washing powder with phosphorus-based substances as the builder ingredient, and a phosphorus-free (zeolite, sodium carbonate, sodium silicate, etc.) washing powder is the washing powder with non-phosphorus-based substances as the builder ingredient.
Among the non-phosphorus-based builder ingredients, zeolite is recognized by the industry as a good substitute for phosphate. However, long-term use of these builder ingredients will make the clothes hard and yellow, because these builder ingredients eventually form water-insoluble precipitates during the washing process. Soda ash and water glass are commonly used buffer ingredients.
It is worth mentioning that although alkaline is beneficial to wash clothes, they will form precipitation with hard water. In addition, excessive amounts of alkaline substances will cause a large amount of precipitation to be formed during washing, which will cause damage to clothing and skin, and make the washing effect worse instead.
